What are the basics of starting a big company like Google or Apple?

If an average company is a fisherman, then Google and Apple is like this.

You are talking about three basics:

  • Scalable;
  • Grow-able;
  • Monopolistic vertical integration.

Scalable means you can start with 100 customers, 1000 a week later, 10000 a month later, 10000000 a year later, and so one, and you can handle it.

Growable means your total number of customers is big, like billions or customers.

Monopolistic means your survival and growth does not have to be the gift of others generosity. Apple is a vertically integrated company — from chip to Apple store. Google has no suppliers, they make raw codes, and then they have Android store.

Big companies starts from the bottom and all the way to the store.
